Doubles Tournaments Update

Hello All,

Just a reminder that the “semi finals” of the squash and racketball doubles is on Thursday 10th March. Before then you need to have arranged and played your first round matches. The way I have structured the tournaments, you will be playing in either the main tournaments or the plate semi final on 10th March.

Some rules for both tournaments

The first, and most important rule, is SAFETY FIRST. So if in doubt that you will hit another player, with either racket or ball, then don’t try and play it. There will be no strokes, just lets.

The second rule is to above all have fun. Don’t take it too seriously, just enjoy

Squash Doubles

Point a rally to 15. At 14 all it is still played to 15, i.e. sudden death.

Best of 5 games (assuming we have time)

Serving order – Team A Player 1 - Team B Player 1 - Team A Player 2 - Team B Player 2

Racketball Doubles

The main difference of racketball doubles is that the striking of the ball alternates between all four players. i.e. Team A Player 1 - Team B Player 1 - Team A Player 2 - Team B Player 2 . The implications of this are that when you have played the ball, you should move to the rear of the court to avoid getting in other players way.

Point a rally to 15. At 14 the game is played to 2 points clear

Best of 5 games (assuming we have time)

Serving order – A little more complicated:

Game 1 - Team A Player 1 and Team B Player 1 keep the serve for the whole game
Game 2 - Team A Player 2 and Team B Player 2 keep the serve for the whole game
Game 3 - Team A Player 1 and Team B Player 1 keep the serve for the whole game
Game 4 - Team A Player 2 and Team B Player 2 keep the serve for the whole game
Game 4 - Team A Player 1 and Team B Player 1 keep the serve until one team reaches 7, then the players 2 serve

One last thing - Didi I mention the first rule is SAFETY FIRST!

Neil
